PANEL DISCUSSION IN LONDON

On 11 June 2025, the Parthenon Project hosted a panel discussion in London, titled “Rethinking a United Kingdom-Greece cultural partnership within the British Museum’s “reimagination”: What next for the Parthenon Sculptures?”.

Leading politicians and figures from the UK and Greece came together to discuss the future of the Parthenon Sculptures, and whether the British Museum will seize the opportunity for a ‘cultural partnership’ with Greece in the context of its ‘reimagination’ project.

Lord Vaizey, Former Minister of State for Culture and the Digital Economy and Co-Chair of the Parthenon Project delivered the welcoming remarks, and BBC Culture and Media Editor Katie Razzall moderated the discussion.

 The panel featured:

• Baroness Debbonaire, Former Shadow Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport and Co-Chair of the Parthenon Project

• Lord Frost, Former Cabinet Minister and Chief Negotiator for exiting the European Union

• Sir Stephen Fry, Actor, broadcaster and writer

• Mrs. Mareva Grabowski-Mitsotakis, Founder of Endeavor Greece and Director of Mare Studio

• Lord Parkinson, Shadow Minister and Former Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport
